Mark Platshon

Mark Platshon joined Trident Capital as a Venture Partner in 2007. Mark earned a B.S.E. in Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering at the University of Michigan, a certificate in Nuclear Engineering at the Westinghouse Naval Reactor School and his MBA from the Stanford Graduate School of Business. As a Navy lieutenant, Mark served a joint Navy and Department of Energy appointment to the staff of Admiral Hyman G. Rickover, where he managed submarine engineering projects. He has also managed development of sub sea oil well equipment for Combustion Engineering’s Vetco group and led a Raychem development program in energy production and cogeneration. Mark has been a serial Silicon Valley CEO for the past 20 years.

Prior to Trident, Mark was CEO and President of Capnia. Previously, he was CEO of Phormax, a medical digital imaging company; Ancore, an explosives detection company acquired by OSI Rapiscan; and Elo, the leader in touchscreen computer interfaces and displays (now a Tyco company). He was also founding CEO of Zing, a digital photography company acquired by Sony.

Mark serves on the Board of Directors of Solexant, a third generation thin film photovoltaic company and Stemcor, a stem cell regenerative medicine company..
